Pallav Purohit is a Senior Research Scholar in the Pollution Management Research Group at IIASA’s Energy, Climate, and Environment Program. He is a leading expert in integrated assessments of air pollution and greenhouse gases, having developed the global fluorinated greenhouse gas module within the GAINS model. With extensive international experience across academia and policy institutions, Purohit has contributed to key climate and sustainability reports, including those by the IPCC, UNEP, and the World Bank. He holds a PhD in Energy Policy and Planning from IIT Delhi and serves on several editorial boards and expert panels, including UNEP’s TEAP/RTOC.

Pallav Purohit is a senior research scholar at IIASA, specializing in air pollution, greenhouse gas emissions, and climate policy. He played a key role in developing the global fluorinated greenhouse gas module within the GAINS model, supporting policy analysis across both developed and developing countries. Before joining IIASA in 2007, he conducted postdoctoral research in climate policy and renewable energy evaluation in Germany. Pallav has also held visiting positions at various international universities and research centers. He contributes to major global climate assessments and serves on expert panels, including UNEP’s Technology and Economic Assessment Panel. He holds a PhD in Energy Policy and Planning from IIT Delhi.
